Square Dancing in Pekin

Clean, Healthy, Fun for All! Stay Young, DANCE!

The B&B Square Dance Club will begin a series of 12 classes on Sunday March 2, 2025 from 2-4 pm at Pekin Park Miller Senior Center located at 551 South 14th St. in Pekin.

Each class will cost $5.00 per person. Open to singles and couples, also  children from age 12 and up when accompanied by an adult. You will  learn a series of Square Dance movements that will slowly grow to 50  different steps. This is a low-impact exercise of walking in directions  from the Teacher of the class—if you can walk, you can dance. If you  like to line dance, this is the next step up in dancing. Each class  reviews the past classes and adds new steps—it is important to attend all the classes. To graduate, you must attend 10 of the 12 lessons. To register, please call Marilyn Falls at 309-696-8113.

Most people that we talk to about Square Dancing, will usually state, Hey, we did that in High School, or My Mom and Dad, or Grandma and Grandpa used to Square Dance all the time. Well, why not you, and why not now?

That was the older version of Square Dancing and it has changed for the better. We are more focused on the fun part of Square Dancing and we have eased the learning process to make it shorter and quicker to learn.

According to a study, among 75-year-olds, “dancing frequently” showed the highest reduction in dementia risk (76%), compared to other activities like reading (35%) or doing crossword puzzles (47%), making it the most beneficial cognitive and physical activity studied for preventing dementia and potentially helping to prevent falls as well.

Gather some friends and join us on March 2nd. It will change your life and you will gain more friends. A real win-win.
