Grateful!

OSF healthcare foundation

Presented by Lanna Scannell, CFRE, Director of Strategic Philanthropy, OSF HealthCare Foundation

The OSF HealthCare Foundation welcomes every opportunity to share our gratitude to our donors who give so generously to help others. Here is one more way the generosity of people, like you, makes a difference in the lives of others.

Life takes on a whole new meaning when someone we know and love is diagnosed with cancer. In addition to physical effects of the disease, cancer can lead to social and emotional effects that resonate throughout various aspects of life—and the lives of families, friends, co-workers and acquaintances.

As a cancer survivor, herself, Susie Brown knows full well the emotional toll the disease can take, from diagnosis, through treatment and even the transition to survivorship.

Because of her deep personal connection with cancer and a compassionate desire to help others, Susie and her husband, Rob, have given generously to strengthen cancer support services at OSF, ensuring no patient walks alone in their journey.

Through its Cancer Support Services program, OSF HealthCare provides amenities to help patients and families manage the physical and emotional side effects of cancer treatment and recovery. Services include financial counseling, nutrition education and dietary counseling, emotional health counseling, art therapy, journaling, clinical navigators, massage therapy, exercise programs, smoking cessation programs, support groups, retreats and referral services, and more.

Through philanthropic support, here are just a few of the ways you help cancer patients:

  • Help provide access to exercise programs that will enable cancer patients to better tolerate treatments and even prevent cancer reoccurrence.
  • Help provide the healing benefits of massage therapy to manage side effects like lymphedema that can come from cancer treatment.
  • Provide access to support groups for cancer patients and families that offer needed social connectedness and validation that they are not alone.

A gift to the OSF HealthCare Cancer Support Services program gives patients throughout the OSF Ministry a future that includes not just years of life, but quality of life.

At the OSF HealthCare Foundation, we are committed to understanding our donors’ intent to ensure we use their gift accurately. That is never more important than with a gift given through a person’s Will or estate. Because of this, we have created a simple Bequest Decision form where you can clearly share your future gift intent. The form is available for download on the Legacy of Hope website at osflegacyofhope.org.

When you share your form confidentially with the OSF Foundation, rest assured this form is for informational use only. Your Will or estate plan must reflect your gift decision in order for it to come to fruition. Please contact your local OSF Foundation office if you have questions or would like to learn more how to accurately reflect your gift intent in your estate plan.

With grateful hearts, wishing you God’s peace and good health.
